Questions we hear most
Is there an age to start?
Lessons are for ages eleven and up. A younger student with small hands can come to a placement visit, and the teacher will tell you honestly whether to start now or wait a little.
Do I need my own guitar?
Not for the placement visit. Before you buy or rent one, ask your teacher.
Which style should I choose?
Start with the music you want to play. A teacher will help you decide at the placement visit, and many students take up a second kind later.
How are teachers matched?
At the placement visit a teacher listens, we talk about what you want to play, and we match you with a teacher and a weekly time.
What is a placement visit?
A short visit to the school. You play or talk about what you would like to play. Nobody is tested.
Can a parent sit in?
Yes. Parents of younger students are welcome in the lesson room, and there is a bench by the front door for waiting.
Do students have to play for others?
No. Band lab and the showcases are a choice, and many students never play in one.
Can adults start?
Yes. Most of our students are teens and adults. We have evening times and an adult beginner group.
What if I miss a lesson?
A lesson you cancel with a day's notice is made up with your teacher.
Still have a question?
Call the front desk during lesson hours or send a message. We answer within a day.
