How tuition works
We give you the figures in writing at the placement visit. Here is what sets them, and how everything else works.
What sets tuition
Three things set tuition: the length of the lesson, whether it is private, shared or a group, and the teacher. Your teacher will suggest the right mix at the placement visit.
Lesson length: 30, 45 or 60 minutes
Private, shared or a group class
Weekly lessons, a term at a time
Registration
A yearly registration covers your student file, the placement visit and scheduling your weekly time. It is due when you accept the time we offer, and the front desk gives you the figure in writing.
Holding a place
Your weekly time is held once you register. If a teacher's time is full, we put you on the waitlist and offer you the next opening in the order people joined.
Billing
Tuition is billed monthly or a term at a time, by card or bank transfer, with automatic payment if you choose it. A monthly plan covers the whole term.
Withdrawing
We ask for a month's notice before your last lesson, in writing or by email, so we can offer the time to the waitlist. A term in progress is settled with the front desk.
Missed classes and make-ups
A lesson you cancel with a day's notice is made up with your teacher. A lesson a teacher cancels is always made up. Band labs and group classes are not made up.
Uniforms, costumes and other costs
Guitar rental by the term, strings, picks, a tuner and music books your teacher chooses are extra. We tell you what each one is for, and how it is billed, at the placement visit.
Questions about tuition?
Ask at the placement visit or call the front desk. We will answer in plain words and in writing.
